What's Going On... ACTIVE SHOOTER TRAININGJanuary 30, the sheriff's department will be working with the district, holding a special training day at VHS. Teachers and administrators will learn what to do in a situation involving an active shooter. This is an enactment exercise, so if you see emergency vehicles or hear gunfire, don't panic. The sheriffs need lots of volunteers, so if you would like to participate, contact Janet Long (janetlong@cwaveisp.net) or Justin Hillemann (jhillemann@aadusd.k12.ca.us) by January 20. FINANCIAL AID FOR COLLEGE If your student is considering college next year--any college, anywhere--go to http://www.fafs YOUR PTSO DOLLARS AT WORK: EXPENSE # 1 The largest annual expenditure by PTSO are the classroom start-up funds that we distribute to teachers at the beginning of the school year. Each teacher receives $100 to supplement their classroom materials. VHS WEB SITE If you have not visited the VHS web site recently, well, you just need to get out (in the cyber-world) more. The site is https://sites.google.com/site/vasquezhighpride/. Check it out, and don't forget to bookmark it. DIZZINGLY IMPORTANT . . . EASY MONEY . . . FOR PTSO If you have a Vons or Safeway Club Card that is unregistered or registered with some dusty old school your kid doesn't use anymore, it's time to start putting those shopping dollars toward VHS PTSO. Just click on escrip, and you will be guided along the road to painlessly contributing to programs and improvements at VHS. Honest--just a few minutes in deep communion with your computer, and you don't have to think about it again all year. The money just rolls in all by itself. |
