What's Going On... CARNIVAL PLANNING TIMEThe date for Carnival has been set for Saturday, October 23rd. If you would like to help with planning, prepping, or carnival barking, please let us know. Carnival is our biggest fundraiser of the year, benefitting not only VHS but all the participating schools. We'll need help with collecting candy and raffle items, coordinating the cake auction, advertising, ticket sales, and of course, we'll need a booth czar. Contact janetlong@cwaveisp.net. ORIENTATION WEEK VHS students will be asked to come in to pick up their schedules the week of August 23. Families will be informed about time and date for each student ahead of time. See schedule in left column--days will be divided into blocks alphabetically. PTSO will be helping to pass out handbooks and schedules, and we will be welcoming incoming freshmen with an ice cream social on the quad. If you would like to volunteer, we would love to put you to work. Contact janetlong@cwaveisp.net. POUR SOME ENGLISH ON ME The Vasquez literary magazine is still available. Now in its second year, this collection of stories, essays, and artwork showcases the talent that abounds on the VHS campus. Available at Perkin' Up or from English teacher Jan Hudson. BELIZE ADVENTURE
Want to go zip-lining through the rainforest, explore Mayan ruins, go inner tubing through ancient Mayan caves or snorkel in the Caribbean? Then join Miss Pierson for an epic adventure in Belize next year for Spring Break. We are signing up now so, e-mail Mrs. Pierson-Straka at connect2spanish@gmail.com for more info. Check out our newsletter, the Vasquez Voice for all the news that's great to print. |
